Projects & Services

"The Bryncynon Digi-Lab aims to provide a creative I.T. environment where young people can produce and take part in digital multimedia projects. Skills attained can be applied to their adult lives, for employment, academic study or personal interest."
The Bryncynon Digilab is part of the CREDU Project which is run by Canllaw Online. It is a national initiative to create a digital information service by and for young people across Wales. The aim of CREDU (which means “to believe” in Welsh) is to bring the computer equipment, a portal of choice and skill learning opportunities to young people, to enhance the programmes and locations in which they are already working. The intention is to make the CREDU benefits available to all young people in an environment in which they are already comfortable and therefore do not feel disadvantaged or daunted.

The project has been running for almost 2 years and has seen 200+ young people through its doors participating in activities such as music editing, video editing, Internet sessions, poster making and job searches. The Digilab has also been used by groups such as Keystart who utalise it as an extended classroom away from the main Comprehensive School in Mountain Ash.
"The Digilab has been a great facility to help enhance pupils coursework and technological skills" - Chris Stone Keystart Project Co-ordinator

The Digilab has equipment to help disabled people gain access to the 'digital world'. This means that people with sight difficulties or physical difficulties can access this valuable community resource. To date the Digilab has played an instrumental part in many projects run by The Strategy including Stars in the Valley, youth day trips, residential trips and Photography OCN's.
